Governor Samuel Ortom has inaugurated the Livestock Special TaskForce for implementation of the law prohibiting open rearing and grazing in the State.
Governor Ortom Performed the ceremony on Monday at the Old Banquet Hall of the Benue Peoples House, Makurdi.
Governor Ortom explained that the mandate of the TaskForce is to effectively enforce provisions of the law regulating and controlling Livestock in the State.
He told members of the TaskForce made up of Professionals drawn from security, Traditional Rulers and Technocrats that the law has given them powers to execute the assignment concienciously without fear or favour and in the interest of Benue and Nigeria.
The Governor also told them that their choice on the TaskForce was not merely by coincidence but deliberate considering their experience and knowledge in their various fields of endeavour.
Governor Ortom reassured all Nigerians of his administration’s commitment to their freedom to live and operate freely in the State without hiderance.
Chairman of the TaskForce and Special Adviser to the Governor on Security Matters, Retired Colonel Edwin Jando in a response, promised on behalf of members to abide by the laws in the cause of carrying out their assignment.
He thanked Governor Ortom for finding them worthy of the assignment while promising to work as a team for actualisation of the set goal.
