Governor Samuel Ortom today announced that the state government would boost security operations with new vehicles and other gadgets.
He made the announcement at the funeral of the late Dr Tavershima Adyorough, his Principal Special Assistant on Knowledge Economy and Investment.
Dr Adyorough who was killed by yet to identified gunmen in his residence in Makurdi was laid to rest in Gaav, Konshisha local government area.
Governor Ortom said the state government had acquired vehicles and other gadgets for distribution to various security agencies including the army, the police, Civil Defence, and the Civilian Joint Task Force.
He stated that the vehicles and gadgets would be used to mount surveillance at several locations across the state.
The Governor stated that even though as a Christian he prayed for the forgiveness of perpetrators of the dastardly act as the head of government he would do everything possible to track and bring them to book.
He appealed to those with useful information to help the police to help the security agencies to arrest the culprits adding that security issues were best handled by everyone.
Senator Representing the Benue North East, Senator Barnabas Gemade pledge to assist in whatever way in apprehending the killed.
He urged the people of state not to dwell only on criticizing their leaders but to also learn to commend their positive efforts in improving their lives.
In his funeral sermon, Rev Dr Frederick Ikyaan of NKST High Level, Makurdi urged those alive to surrender their lives to Christ so that he could reveal to them the purpose for which to live.
