
Born on February 29, 1980 to the family of an accountant with the Benue State Civil Service, Mr. John Ikyange and Mbaweren Ikyange (both of blessed memory) from Seev-ikov of Ushongo Local Government Area of Benue State, the young Terkimbi enrolled into LGEA Primary School, Manor at a young age, but later left to continue with his elementary education at Tiny Tots Nursery and Primary School, Makurdi (now Towering Tots Nursery and Primary School) in 1988 and stayed there till 1992 when he obtained his First School Leaving Certificate. After completing his primary education, he enrolled into the Government College Makurdi, where he studied from 1992 to1995. After Junior School Certificate Examinations he was selected among the pioneer students that started the Special Science Secondary School Makurdi where he studied from 1996 to1999. Upon successful completion of his secondary education, he enrolled for a remedial programme at the Benue State University Makurdi in 2000, finishing in 2001, after which he gained admission to read Biology in the university. In 2005, Rt. Hon. Ikyange graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. He did the compulsory youth service assignment between 2007 and 2008 at the College of Health Technology, Tsafe, Zamfara State. After the service hear, he returned home to continue with his rice farming activities.
In 2011, Rt. Hon Ikyange contested and won the membership of the House of Assembly on the ticket of the ACN and emerged Minority Whip of the House, a position he held until the dissolution of the 7th Assembly.
In 2015, he got re-elected to the House and was elected Speaker of the 8th Assembly.
Rt. Hon. Ikyange’s legislative assignments have taken him to many places within and outside the country, some of which are, South Africa, Kenya, United States of America. He is happily married to Ngufan and the marriage is blessed with three children.
