Dr. Benjamin Teryima Ashaver, Special Adviser on Youth Empowerment was born on 20th April, 1964. He had primary education at NKST Primary School, Pevikyaa between 1972 and 1977 and Secondary education at NKST Secondary School, Zaki- Biam from 1977 to 1982.
Upon obtaining the General Certificate in Education, GCE, he enrolled into the Benue State Polytechnic, Ugbokolo for a National Diploma programme as well as a Higher National Diploma and obtained both certificates in 1985 and 1988 respectively.
He studied for a Masters degree in Industrial Labour Relations at the University of Ibadan, obtaining same in 1997 and another Masters of Science degree in Public Administration from the Benue State University, Makurdi in 2006.
In 2014, he bagged a Doctor of Philosophy degree ,Ph.D, in Political Science at the Benue State University, Makurdi and capped it with a Postgraduate Diploma in Education, PGDE, in 2015.
Dr. Ashaver started his public service career in 1982 as an Agricultural Assistant in Ukum Local Government.
Between 1985 and 86 he was an Executive Administrative Officer in Katsina Ala local government. During the mandatory National Youth Service year from 1988 to 1989, he was posted to the Industrial Training Fund office in Lagos.
He returned to Katsina Ala Local Government as Area Development Officer in charge of Logo in 1989 and was again assigned same duty in Zaki- Biam in 1990. He rose to the rank of Principal Personnel Officer in charge of Protocol, Ukum local government in February, 1996 and Deputy Secretary, Oju Local Government Council from 1998 to 1999.
He has held various other positions including Assistant Chief Administrative Officer, Security Services, Logo local government, Director, General Services and Administration, and Interim Administrator, Ukum Local Government Council, as well as Caretaker Chairman, Ukum Local government council in 2004.
Dr. Ashaver was appointed Honourable Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources in July 2007 where he served up to 2009 before he was deployed to the Ministry of Education till 2011.
He reappointed Commissioner for Works and Transport between 2011 and 2013.
Dr Ashaver is a Fellow, Institute of Corporate Administration of Nigeria, Fellow, Certified Institute of Management and member of many professional bodies.
He served as the LEEMP focal person in Katsina Ala, NULGE Chairman, Ukum Local Government and State NULGE Treasurer.
The Special Adviser's community service includes disbursement of scholarship awards to students of Ukum origin, rendering of humanitarian assistance through the Red Cross in Katsina Ala, where he is the Unit Chairman as well as uncountable contributions to the Boys' Brigade of Nigeria.
He is also constantly touching lives through his private investment efforts.
