Born November 10, 1964, the member representing KatsinaAla State Constituency on the ticket of Labour Party hails from GborAya village in Katsina Ala. He attended primary school at St. John’s Primary School, KatsinaAla from 1972 to 1977, from where he proceeded to Government College, also in KatsinaAla in 1977 where he graduated with a GCE “O” level.
Hon. Aye was later to attend the University of Jos, Plateau State where he obtained a National Diploma (ND) in Social Work Development between 1994 and 1995. He later obtained an Advanced Diploma in Public Administration from the University of Mkar in Benue State in 2012. He later in 2013 added to his academic attainments by undergoing a Post Graduate Diploma (PGDPA) from the same institution.
Hon. Aye is vastly experienced and politically active. He was at different times Chairman and Secretary of the KatsinaAla branch of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW). In 2003 and 2004 he was Supervisory Councillor for Works and Housing in KatsinaAla local government council, and later between 2004 and 2006 served as Deputy Leader in the local government’s legislative council.
The House of Assembly member is also a business manager of note, having worked as Chairman, Tractor Hiring Agency as well as coordinator of revenue enforcement on produce and livestock. In 2009, he established and managed his firm, Aye Tractor Company.
Hon. Aye’s advent into partisan politics resulted in his being, at various times, ward secretary of the defunct Social Democratic Party, SDP, in 1990 as well as coordinator for the Goodluck – Sambo Support Group in KatsinaAla LGA.
He also served as the Special Assistant to the Executive Governor of Benue State between 2012 and 2014, from where he contested for, and won the general elections in 2015, culminating in his inauguration on June 6, 2015.
He describes himself as a team player who however is able to work under pressure and with little supervision, adding that he self-motivated, hardworking and possesses “excellent interpersonal skills”.
Hon Aye has attended several courses, seminars and workshops both politically and professionally.
Happily married, his hobbies include Basketball, Volley ball as well as reading newspapers.
