Rt. Hon. Benjamin Adanyi

Barrister Adanyi was born on 1st August, 1968 at Mbazembe, Mbagbange in Makurdi Local Government Area of Benue State.

He had primary education at NKST Primary School, Wadata from 1974 to 1980, and proceeded to Government Secondary School, Ikpayongo between 1980 and 1985.

The Majority Leader was a student at the Alfred Akawe Torkula College of Advanced and Professional Studies.

He enrolled at the University of Calabar, from 1989 to 1993 to study Law and after graduation went through the Nigerian Law School, Lagos 1993.

Hon Adanyi has been elected twice as member representing Makurdi South State Constituency, from 2011.

Rt. Hon. Adanyi who was Minority Leader, 2011-2015, and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1995 started his career at Olajide Oyewole and Co. Western House, Lagos during his NYSC service year in 1995.

Subsequently, he worked as Junior Associate at D.U. Ekumakama Harmony Chambers 1997; Secretary and Manager Administration at Benkims Plastics Company Limited 2007; Senior Legislative Assistant to Senator JKN Waku at the National Assembly 1999-2003; and Senior Legislative Aide to Senator George Akume, at the National Assembly 2007-2011.

He has also combined the Practice of Law with Lecturing at the Benue State Polytechnic, Ugbokolo (Outreach programme).

The Igbo Community in Makurdi on 14th November, 2015 conferred the title of Agunen Chemba 1 of Igbo (meaning the Lion that watches over his people) on Rt. Hon. Barr. Benjamin Adanyi.

He is married with children.
