Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom has urged the people of Agatu Local Government Area to continue to support security agents deployed to sustain peace in the area.
He spoke today at St. Bridget’s Parish Aila, Agatu local government area during a thanksgiving mass and reception for the final profession of religious vows by Reverend Sister Vera Enenu Inalegwu.
The Governor commended the people for their support to the security agents whom he said are working tirelessly for sustained peace in the area and urged them to sustain same.
He assured them of his administration’s determination to amicably resolve the l crisis between Abugbe and Agbaduma communities, even as he charged members of the two communities to cooperate with his administration in that regard.
The Governor noted that it was the policy of his administration to always employ the carrot approach in resolving crisis before applying the stick approach if necessary, and expressed the hope that no one would allow himself to be a victim of the law.
While acknowledging the challenges confronting the people of Agatu in the areas of insecurity the Governor commended their resilience in returning to their ancestral homes to rebuild what the herdsmen had destroyed.
He listed the completion of the Oshigbudu – Obagaji road, provision of water and electriciry to some communities as part of efforts of his administration to address development challenges in the area.
The Governor announced that contract for the electrification of Oshigbudu – Ogule had been awarded, adding that the remaining part of the road from Obagaji to Agagbe would also be considered in subsequent phases of roads construction.
He commended Reverend Sister Inalegwu for choosing to serve God and humanity in her pursuit of her religious vocation in addition to the medical profession saying she had done Benue proud and that her thanksgiving would inspire many in the area to volunteer to work for God.
Former Minister of Interior and Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, senatorial flag bearer for Benue South Senatorial District in the forthcoming general elections, Comrade Abba Moro while praying God to guide and direct Sister Inalegwu in His vineyard, also prayed God to guide Governor Ortom to deliver on his mandate to Benue people.
Rev. Fr. Francis Oche Atama in a sermon, tasked Christians to always give thanks to God in appreciation for what He has done for them, even as he charged Rev. Sister Inalegwu to be a good ambassador of Benue people.
