Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom has directed the immediate construction of three blocks of classrooms at St. Patrick’s Primary School Aokpe in Okpokwu Local Government Area of the state.

He gave the directive today at Aokpe Pilgrimage Centre, Ehaje in Okpokwu Local Government Area of the state during a Church service to mark the 2018 December Pilgrimage.

The Governor dedicated one block of classrooms to Dr. Matthew Idoko who is an alumnus of the dilapidated primary school, even as he also directed for the sinking of two boreholes at the Pilgrimage Centre, one at the school and another one for the community.

He also stated that the feeder road in the area would be captured in the 2019 budget already presented to the Benue State House of Assembly if it had not been captured before in order to provide accessible road to the community.

Governor Ortom while charging Christians on commitment in their service to God, lauded the spiritual and physical development at the pilgrimage centre, describing the Catholic Church as a pace setter in Christianity worldwide based on its judicious utilisation of resources and development programmes.

He, on behalf of the state government, offered financial assistance to the Pilgrimage centre for upgrading of facilities.

National President, Odum-Ehaje Community, Engr. Jonah Okoliko and Chairman, Central Planning Committee, Dr. Pius Ochefu, described the Governor’s visit to the Pilgrimage Centre as historic as it was the first of its kind for a sitting Governor, even as they prayed for intervention to make it a world class centre.

Reverend Fr. Joseph Itodo in a homily, charged all Christians to be agents of peace by promoting same in all their deeds, noting that those who stand on the side of truth are usually insulted but advised them never to be weighed down just like Jesus Christ.
