Post election analysis is customary to any democratic society. The main reason behind making such analysis is to determine the progress or decline of the process of democracy in the society where an election is conducted.
Most people, particularly the apolitical class indulge in this in a fairly objective way highlighting areas of strength and suggesting best ways to improve on the weak areas.
In Nigeria however, post election analysis avails politicians ample opportunity to launch venomous criticisms on the electoral body using descriptive words that send negative signals in the minds of the people about the whole process.
When you see people doing this either at home, national television or places of work, just know that they were not favored. At this time, they will quote different sections of the constitution and appear to be the most patriotic of all citizens
I started voting in my early twenties and I make bold to say that I have never voted in any local government election in my state until the last one. Not as if I refused to vote willfully but I have not been privileged to see a ballot paper on any of the voting days.
In fact, the opposition saw no need to field candidates in the local council elections during the Ortom led PDP in Benue State. It was a one party affair and strictly selective. How Sen. Abba Moro did not see this log of wood in his eyes is still a very surprising mystery. He did not see this act as a sham and insult to democracy until now.
Sen. Abba Moro was not a disputant of any electoral process during the time of his party, the PDP. His recent outing condemning the last Saturday elections in Benue State is a mere political chicanery aimed at reducing Governor Alia and the entire Benue State to public ridicule.
We call on our representatives at the National Assembly to drag home some dividends of democracy and stop speaking English always expressing negative opinions about the Governor of Benue State.Governor Alia is paying his bills. He is visibly working transforming the state in all sectors. He needs no distraction.
The road to Naka is impassable. Anytime I see Sen. Titus Zam speaking on the floor of the red chambers, I long to hear him beg the federal government to turn her attention to that road. It is also within his senatorial district that the road to Katsina-ala is deplorable, why is he not selecting different English words with similar meaning to emphasize the condition of these roads to the federal government when speaking at the chambers of the Senate?
If the three Senators from Benue State jointly press on the federal government to dredge River Benue, we would not be prone to flooding. Why is it that their unity is usually negatively informed? Can’t they unite on issues that will benefit the state?
It is on the wings of Alia iliaaaaa that most people flew to the National Assembly. Why do they necessarily want to break the wings that carried them to where they are now? Can’t they accept the fact that things have changed and all that matters now is the development of our dear state?
Anyways, I’m not in a better position to talk about election matters. What I know is that the election took place, people voted and results were announced. Therefore, the best thing to do when one is dissatisfied with the process is to explore legal means to address whatever dissatisfaction one may have
