Ortom Directs Ministry to Oblige Military Officers’ Request for Land

Governor Samuel Ortom has directed the Ministry of Land, Survey and Solid Minerals to process applications for land by some military officers of the Direct Short Service Course 23 as requested. The Governor gave the directive during a courtesy call on him by the course members led by Lieutenant Reverend Father Desmond Uzan at the Benue Peoples House today. He directed the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Anthony Ijohor, to liaise with the relevant Commissioner to work out the details. The Governor said the Military Officers’ request for Land to settle down with their families was not too much for Government considering the sacrifices they would make to protect the territorial integrity of their fatherland. Governor Ortom congratulated the officers and assured them of his administration’s readiness to attend to more of their requests when the financial situation of the state improved, adding that their pledge to be good ambassadors of the State was a promise they must keep. Earlier, leader of the delegation, Lieutant Uzan appealed to the Governor to provide them land to build houses for their families as well as other logistics support to enhance their service delivery. He informed the Governor that they were professionals who underwent a three month intensive military training in Kaduna and Taraba States and pledged to be good ambassadors of the State while serving the fatherland
