Ortom Enjoins Christians to Heed Biblical Injunctions
Governor Samuel Ortom today advised Christians not to subscribe to the modern trend of criticising leaders when confronted with challenges but rather to pray for them in such situations. He made the call at the wedding of Alfred Emberga and Victoria Iorhingon, held at the New Anointing Chapel North Bank, Makurdi. Governor Ortom urged the congregation to imbibe the Biblical injunction to pray for leaders when they encounter difficulties in order for divine intervention to surmount them, stressing that the weapon Benue people needed now was prayer. He said just as the wilderness stood before the children of Israel and the promised land the State was passing difficult times momentarily. The Governor prayed that God would bless the union and advised youth to invest in the marriage institution with trust in God who he said them if they would live righteous lives. He also attended the wedding reception in honour of Joan Oyaje and James Asen, at the auditorium of the College of Health Sciences of the Benue State University where he charged the couple to look to God for their union to blossom. Governor Ortom said the solution to every problem could be found in the Bible and advised the couple to find time to read, meditate and obey the Holy Book every day. In separate goodwill messages at the wedding between Joan and James, Senator George Akume and wife of the Governor, Dr. Mrs. Eunice Ortom, prayed God to grant the couple a fruitful home.
