Governor Samuel Ortom has charged the leadership of the All Progressives Congress in the state at all levels to ensure that unity of purpose prevails among its members at all times.
He spoke today at the Benue Peoples House Makurdi during a courtesy call on him by the state, local government and ward executives of the party led by its chairman, Comrade Abba Yaro.
The Governor noted that a united party would provide a better platform for all aspirants for various elective positions to actualise their aspirations.
He stated that every number counts in politics and there was need to embrace and tolerate all in order to achieve the desired result in the 2019 general elections.
While congratulating the exco members for their reelection, Governor Ortom appreciated them for endorsing him for reelection in 2019 and promised not to betray the trust reposed in him.
He reiterated his call on all appointees serving in his government who have political ambitions to resign and concentrate on their aspirations for others to be given opportunities to also contribute their quota to his administration.
State Chairman of the party, Comrade Abba Yaro, reaffirmed their endorsement of the Governor for a second term in 2019, stressing that the success of the ward, local government and state congresses of the party in the state was due to the peaceful disposition of the Governor.
He stated that Governor Ortom had demonstrated unequalled courage and sacrifice in defense of his people and pledged the party’s support to him at all times.
