Pilgrims Intensify Prayer for Leah Sharibu’s Release

Benue Christian Pilgrims today joined their counterparts from other parts of Nigeria to intensify prayers for the release of Leah Sharibu, the Christian from Dapchi in Bauchi state still held captive by Boko Haram on account of her faith.

The faithful offered the prayer at Church of St. Peter, Gallicantu, Jerusalem, in Israel where the Saint denied Christ three times before cock crow. They also prayed that God would strengthen Christians in Nigeria and all parts of the world to withstand ongoing persecution. The pilgrims prayed for mercy for the countless times they said they denied Christ through their unworthy conduct and asked for forgiveness and restoration similar to what happened to Apostle Peter in the Bible. Other holy sites which they visited today were Mount Olives which offered the best view of the old Jerusalem city, the Chapels of Dominus Flevit, and Peter Nostor, as well as the Church of Agony. Others were Mount Zion at the scene of the Last Supper, the Garden of Gethsemane where Jesus was arrested, King David’s tomb and the Church of Dormition where Mary the mother of Jesus fell asleep. The pilgrims returned to spend their third and final night in Paradise Hotel in Bethlehem.
