His qualifications include Higher National Diploma in Surveying as well as Master of Business Administration.
Col Jando enrolled at the Nigerian Defence Academy Kaduna in 1972 and passed out in 1975; and thereafter attended several other professional training courses within and outside the country.
Some of the courses include Young Officers’ Artillery Course; Junior Command and Staff College Course; Management Course, Nigerian Army School of Military Engineering; Regimental Officers’ Gunnery Course, Nowshera, Pakistan, and Defense Advisers Course.
During his career in the Nigerian Army he held various command positions the most prominent of which was Brigade Commander, 32 Field Artillery Brigade Abeokuta,1997. Before this he had been Chief Instructor, Delta Division of the Command and Staff College, Jaji, 1995-96; and Chief Operations Officer at the headquarters of the United Nations Peace Mission in Angola, 1993-95.
He was awarded the Forces Services Star (FSS), Meritorious Service Star (MSS) and the United Nations Medal for Peace Keeping.
In September, 2001, Governor George Akume appointed him Special Adviser on Security Matters in which capacity he served until May of 2003. He was reappointed to the same position and served till May 29, 2007. Thereafter, he ventured into the private sector where he served as Chairman of FEDMENA Nigeria Limited and Alpha Beverages Nigeria Limited until his recent appointment as Special Adviser on Security Matters.
While in the private sector, he still remained active on the political scene and contributed immensely to the growth of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue State, serving as the chairman of the party’s membership registration drive as well as vice-chairman for the conduct of the party’s congresses in Zone A.
Col Jando, who is also the Chairman of the Wrestling Association, Benue State Sports Council, enjoys classical music and golf.
