During his national service in Ahoada local government council in Rivers State, he was an Administrative Officer, 1989 – 1990; after which he was employed in the same position with the Benue State Local Government Service Commission in 1990. While in the service he worked in several local government areas in Benue State where he held various positions including; Head of Personnel and Administration, Director of Personnel Management, and Director General Services and Administration.
He also attended several courses, conferences, seminars and workshops both within and outside Nigeria. They included Professional Administrative Officer’s Induction Course, Global Concern and national development agenda; building skills and capacities for Planning and Management of Development at the Centralized level, both United Nations Development Programme Management Courses; as well as Financial Management and Accountability Course and
Effective Communication Skills for Management, organized by Administrative Staff Collage of Nigeria (ASCON).
In 2004, he was appointed Sole Administrator, Gboko local government area. In 2007, Dr. Melladu was appointed Commissioner and deployed, first, to the Ministry of Commerce, Industry, and Tourism and later, Ministry of Information and Culture.
Dr. Melladu has taught on part time basis at the Benue State University and the University of Mkar.
At the time of his appointment as Special Adviser, he was General Manager, Special Duties/Corporate Affair at Dangote Cement PLC Gboko.
Dr. Melladu who is a member of the Nigeria Institute of Public Relations is also member, Society for Peace Studies and Practice.
He is a well- travelled man who has visited South Africa, Malaysia, Indonesia, China, United State of America (USA), United Kingdom (UK). The Netherlands, India, Ethiopia and other countries in Africa.
Married to a distinguished Nurse, Mrs. Rossy Suleiyol Melladu, and blessed with children, his hobbies include reading, table tennis, jogging and hunting.
