Dura, Magdalyne (Mrs)

Born on 17th March, 1967 in Gbajimba, Mrs Dura hails from Saghev in Guma Local Government Area.After primary school she started secondary education at Nongov Community Secondary School, Tse-Ikyo in1978 but moved to Queen of the Rosary Secondary School, Gboko, in 1980 where she completed in1983 and obtained the General Certificate of Education, GCE, Ordinary level.Dr. Mrs. Dura graduated from the Benue State University in 1998 as the overall best student after which she attended the Nigerian Law School and was called to bar in 2000. She obtained both her masters and doctorate degrees in Law at the Benue State University in 2004 and 2008 respectively. Dr. Mrs. Dura worked with the Nigeria Immigration Service before she moved over to the Benue State University, Makurdi in 2001 as an Assistant Lecturer. She rose through the ranks and was promoted to the post of Associate Professor in 2013, a position she held until her appointment as Special Adviser. While at the university she served on various committees and also held various administrative positions and was one time Director, Centre for Gender Studies. Her community service includes analyst, adviser, consultant, patroness and coordinator of several organizations. Dr. Mrs. Dura has won several prizes including Best Graduating Student at BSU in four different categories in 1998. She has also received several awards including Tiv Woman of the Year, 2014, and Arewa People’s Unity Association Merit Award of Excellence for Peace and Unity, 2014. The Special Adviser has attended conferences, workshops and courses within and outside the country including the National Conference, 2014, as delegate representing Benue State where she made outstanding contributions, Advanced Leadership Training in Maui Hawaii in the United States of America, USA. She also belongs to more than ten professional organizations. Dr. Mrs. Dura who is married with children is fluent in Tiv, Hausa, Ankwai and English.
