Grp. Capt. Jonah David Jang
Military Governor, 1985 - 1986
Born on March 13, 1944 at Du in Jos Local Government Area of Plateau State, Group Captain Jonah Jang attended the Plateau Provincial Secondary School, Kuru (now Government Science School, Kuru) from 1960 to 1964.
He joined the Nigerian Air Force as a Flying Officer Cadet, on July 1, 1965 and received his initial Military Training at the Nigerian Airforce Base, Kaduna between July and October, 1965.
Recalled from his Primary Flying Training in West Germany in October, 1955 - July, 1966 due to the civil war, he attended an emergency commission course at the Nigerian Defence Academy Kaduna, February to August 12, 1969 where he was commissioned to the rank of second Lt. As a regular combatant officer. He also attended a supply operations course in the United States Airforce. 1972, Junior Command Staff School (Royal Airforce) England in 1975, Command and Staff College, Jaji - Army Faculty, 1978 - 1979 and management courses in Nigeria in 1975 and 1982.
Some of his Command and staff appointments include, MTO-OC, Admin., NAF Hq. Camp., Lagos; Officer Commanding Supply, Nigeria Airforce Makurdi, Officer Commanding Supply Squadron, NAF. FTW. Kano, S.O.I Supply Hq. NAF: Officer Commanding.
Logistic wing, Ikeja and Commander, Equipment Supply Depot, Lagos prior to his appointment as Governor of Benue State.
A man of varied interests, he likes Squash, Football, Music and travelling. He is married to Talatu Jang and they are blessed with children. He has since retired as an Air Commandore.
