The Executive Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia on 14th September, 2024, attended the Mzough u Tiv, United Kingdom (MUTUK) Tiv Day Annual Conference and Cultural Celebration 2024.
The event, held at Jo Richardson Community School, Gale Street, Dagenham in London, showcased the rich traditions and vibrant heritage of the Tiv people, demonstrating their commitment to preserving their cultural identity even while living abroad.
Governor Alia, who shared his experiences on his verified Facebook page, expressed his profound admiration for the Tiv community’s efforts in celebrating their heritage. “It was an incredible experience to witness the colorful display of our rich cultural heritage by the Tiv community in the United Kingdom,” Alia wrote. He emphasized that the MUTUK Tiv Day is more than a festival; it represents a celebration of Tiv identity, unity, and the enduring spirit of the Tiv people.
The MUTUK Tiv Day, an annual event organized by the Mzough u Tiv, United Kingdom, brought together members of the Tiv community from across the UK and beyond. The conference and cultural celebration featured traditional music, dance, and storytelling, offering a window into the vibrant traditions of the Tiv people.
In his message, Alia expressed deep pride in the efforts of the Tiv community in the UK, acknowledging their role in keeping the Tiv culture alive and thriving across the globe. “Thank you, MUTUK, for this wonderful celebration,” he concluded. “May the Tiv spirit continue to thrive across the globe!”
